I really like all the different textures of this piece. The bright and vibrant orange of the cloth along with its rough looking pattern contrasts beautifully with the softness and the paleness of the models face.
When i look at this photo, the emotion i get from it is missing somebody. I think the title influences the idea. It looks as if the model has picked up an old item of clothing belonging to someone close to her... a brother, father, husband/boyfriend or a child. She feels his old clothing or item, and breathes in its scent. Its scent reminds her of this person, and it saddens her to learn he's no longer there. The way she's got her eyes closed and holding the cloth against her face i think adds to the concept beautifully. I have an old red jumper that my great nanna knitted for my mother when she was as child, and it was handed down to me recently. I often hold it close to me and breath in its smell, to remind me them. I think in ways many people can relate to this image.
I also love the tightness of the cropping so that the focus is on her facial expression and the cloth.
